Job Title: Control Room Operator

EarthStream are seeking highly skilled Control Room Operators to join our team at a heavy-duty power plant. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in monitoring and controlling plant operations from the control room, with a focus on ensuring smooth and efficient power generation. You will also play a key role in supporting the commissioning and start-up of new units, ensuring everything operates according to plan and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor all control room systems and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Supervise and control power plant processes, including turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary systems.
  • Respond to alarms, malfunctions, or abnormal conditions, taking corrective actions as required to prevent damage or downtime.
  • Assist in the commissioning and start-up of new units, ensuring all systems are tested and operating correctly.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and optimize plant performance.
  • Monitor plant performance indicators and report on efficiency, energy output, and equipment health.
  • Maintain detailed logs and documentation of plant operations, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior operators and other team members.
  • Support plant shutdown and startup activities, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
 
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven experience as a Control Room Operator in a heavy-duty power plant or similar industrial facility.
  • Strong understanding of power plant operations, including turbine, generator, boiler, and auxiliary systems.
  • Experience with commissioning and start-up procedures for new units.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust plant parameters to optimise performance and ensure safe operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and report findings clearly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and make sound decisions under time constraints.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications or training in control room operations or power plant systems.
  • Previous experience in commissioning and startup of power plant units.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems in power plants.
