Job Title: Siemens Steam Turbine SST400 Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
Location: Europe
Job Type: [Full-time/Contract]
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Siemens Steam Turbine SST400 Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the mechanical commissioning of Siemens SST400 steam turbines, ensuring their mechanical integrity and operational readiness. This involves inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting all mechanical components, including the turbine, auxiliary systems, and associated equipment, to meet design specifications and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Commissioning:
    • Lead the mechanical commissioning of Siemens SST400 steam turbines, including the installation and testing of key components such as the turbine rotor, bearings, seals, valves, steam piping, and auxiliary systems.
    • Oversee the mechanical startup procedures and ensure turbines and auxiliary systems function correctly under operational conditions.
    • Conduct mechanical inspections of turbine components and related systems, including alignment, clearance checks, and vibration analysis.
    • Perform mechanical testing and adjustments, ensuring components are calibrated and functioning as per specifications.

  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
    • Identify and resolve mechanical issues that arise during commissioning, including equipment malfunctions or performance deviations.
    • Work closely with other engineering teams (electrical, control, and instrumentation) to resolve cross-disciplinary issues impacting mechanical performance.
    • Implement corrective actions for mechanical system faults and ensure all systems are operating optimally before final acceptance.

  • Performance Validation & Testing:
    • Perform and document mechanical performance testing, including thermal expansion assessments, pressure tests, and system flow tests.
    • Analyze test data to ensure compliance with performance standards, efficiency, and safety requirements.
    • Validate that mechanical systems are integrated properly with control systems and auxiliary equipment.

  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain detailed records of all mechanical commissioning activities, inspections, and test results.
    • Produce clear commissioning reports, documenting mechanical performance, any adjustments or repairs, and the final status of systems.
    • Ensure all documentation is in compliance with project standards and Siemens specifications, and properly archived for future reference.

  • Collaboration & Coordination:
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, electrical engineers, and external vendors, to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Provide on-site technical support to the team, including mentoring junior engineers and technicians on mechanical commissioning best practices.
    • Communicate with Siemens technical support for advanced troubleshooting and solutions for complex mechanical issues.

  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure all mechanical commissioning activities adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
    • Promote a safety-first culture during all commissioning operations, identifying and mitigating risks associated with mechanical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of [X] years of experience in mechanical commissioning, particularly with Siemens SST400 steam turbines or similar turbine models.
    • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems in power plants or industrial settings, including turbine rotor assembly, bearings, valves, and steam piping.
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during commissioning and startup phases.

  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems in steam turbine plants, including vibration analysis, alignment procedures, thermal expansion, and pressure testing.
    • Proficient in interpreting mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and commissioning procedures.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and provide clear reports.

  • Certifications:
    • Relevant industry certifications or training related to steam turbines (e.g., Siemens turbine-specific training, vibration analysis certifications) are highly desirable.

  • Language:
    • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in industrial and sometimes challenging environments, including working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as required for commissioning activities.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy mechanical components, carry out inspections, and assist in system installations.
