Job Description: Onshore Blade Repair Technician - Texas Wind Farms
Position Summary:
We are seeking skilled and motivated Onshore Blade Repair Technicians to join our team, servicing multiple wind farms across Texas. This role is integral to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of wind turbines by performing inspections, repairs, and maintenance on turbine blades. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in blade repair techniques, a commitment to safety, and the flexibility to work in various locations across Texas.
Key Responsibilities
Blade Inspection & Maintenance:
- Conduct thorough visual and internal inspections of turbine blades to identify damage or wear, including delamination, cracks, or erosion.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to enhance blade performance and lifespan.
Blade Repair:
- Execute composite repairs, including fiberglass and epoxy resin applications.
- Repair lightning protection systems (LPS) and trailing/leading edges as required.
- Utilize rope access, suspended platforms, or other techniques for blade work at height.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Report findings and recommendations to site supervisors and operations teams.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to company and OSHA safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with site technicians, engineers, and operations teams to ensure timely and effective blade repair solutions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders about repair needs and status updates.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in wind turbine blade repair or composite repair techniques.
- Familiarity with onshore wind farm operations preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in composite materials repair, including fiberglass and resin systems.
- Experience with rope access (Level 1 or higher preferred) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Comfortable working at heights of 300+ feet and in varying weather conditions.
Certifications (Preferred):
- GWO Blade Repair Certification or equivalent.
- GWO Working at Heights, First Aid, and Manual Handling certifications.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb wind turbines and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to travel frequently across Texas for on-site work.
