Our client is one of the worlds largest diversified commodities supply and trading firms. With revenues in excess of $65 m, circa 14,000 staff in 25 countries and operations in the following assets:

Energy – Oil, Gas, Power, Emissions
Metals – Base metals, Precious metals
Agricultural  – Grains, oils, sugar, oilseeds, cotton

Background

In 2013 – 2014 –our client kicked off a multi-faceted programme to professionalise IT and align it with the business more closely, this project encompassed:

The appointment of a new CIO
The re-organisation of the IT organisation
Divestment of 49% of agribusiness
A paradigm shift from ‘build to buy’
Major new date warehouse programme

Our role

Build Divisional CIO team
Market Research on low cost locations
Advisory on skills availability / costs across key trading hubs (London, Geneva, Hong Kong, Singapore, Stamford, Montevideo, Madrid
Upskill IT function

What we achieved

Placement of two divisional CIO’s
Placement of Chief Data Scientist
Placement of CTO
Became the primary supplier of IT staff – supplying 80% of all headcount
Moved from Staffing into Consulting and currently building  new trading technology team / offering something different to the typical systems integrators
Built PMO/ Transformation team
